Hi! I’m Miss Tammy and I’m obsessed with all things Early Childhood. I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education and spent 6 years teaching in the public schools. I loved kindergarten because I love seeing those students come in and experience school for the first time. Their love of learning, joy to be there, and love for the people around them is unmatched. I decided that it was time to fulfill my long time goal of opening my own preschool, so we did and Discovery Station was formed. We have 3 year old Preschool classes and 4 year old Pre-K classes.
Being in a preschool setting we were able to do even more of what I knew the kids needed – learning through hands on activities, experiences, and PLAY! It taught us just how important this is – if the kids are given this opportunity then they develop a love of running into school, they are more curious about things and make more connections to what they are learning about. And because of this, they progress faster. I became incredibly passionate about bringing back more PLAY into the preschool and kindergarten classroom, because not only is that developmentally appropriate, but the results are undeniable.
I have several small babies of my own now and I am fortunate enough to be able to take a small break from running the school to spend with them. However, we are still writing curriculum and sharing preschool materials that make your job easier – whether that is in the classroom or in your own home. Our goal is make teaching preschool in a hands on and fun way seem easy and manageable for you. Because it will be more fun for everyone!
